OTTAWA OPENS CONSULTATIONS ON BILLY BISHOP’S FUTURE
The federal government launched public consultations on the future of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, with input open until July 24, 2026. Transport Canada said the process will gather views on issues including transportation, economics, the environment, noise, housing, and quality of life before any decision is made on the airport’s next phase.

ATLANTIC CANADA OPENS ACCESS TO $76 MILLION IN COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING
ACOA announced that nearly $76 million is now available through the Build Communities Strong Fund’s Local Impact stream for Atlantic communities, municipalities, Indigenous organizations, and other eligible groups.
The program is intended to support practical local projects — from repairs and upgrades to new community infrastructure — that strengthen regional development and everyday public use.

IMT AND PABLO AIR EXPLORE A DRONE PARTNERSHIP
IMT and South Korea’s PABLO AIR signed a letter of intent at CANSEC to explore a potential partnership focused on advanced autonomous drone capabilities. VALCARTIER OPENS A NEW DEFENCE RESEARCH COMPLEX
National Defence opened the new pavilion complex at the DRDC Valcartier Research Centre, marking the completion of a $166 million modernization project. The 30,900-square-metre facility includes more than 80 multidisciplinary laboratories and is intended to strengthen collaboration and expand Canada’s defence research capacity in areas such as information systems, optronics, and combat systems science.

CANADA INVESTS IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF SOVEREIGN EARTH OBSERVATION
